New community.eda collection

Hello Ansible community,

my name is Pino Toscano, and I work at Red Hat as part of the Ansible EDA team.

I’m pleased to announce you the initial release of the community.eda collection:

What is community.eda

community.eda is a new collection for Event-Driven Ansible (EDA) modules, such as event sources and event filters, where new modules can be added to experiment with new technologies, new work-flows, and so on. The Ansible EDA team oversees the development of this new collection, including taking care of creating new releases of it. At the moment there is no regular release schedule planned, so new versions will be made available as needed.

This collection does not have a specific “topic” for its content, in the same way as the community.general collection; that said, we (EDA team) would like to encourage the addition of EDA content in more fitting collections when possible. For example, Azure modules were recently imported into the azure.azcollection collection, and AWS modules are being imported into the amazon.aws collection.

What is the content of community.eda

So far it contains few event sources, namely:

  • file
  • file_watch
  • journald
  • url_check

These are currently also available in the ansible.eda collection.

Happy to answer to more questions
