Templating and preparing for ansible-core 2.19
ansible-core
has gone through an extensive rewrite for templating as describe in Data Tagging preview and testing. These changes are now in the devel
branch.
Advice for playbook and roles users and creators
This change has the potential to impact both your playbooks/roles and collection development. As such, we are asking the community to test your playbooks/roles and against devel
and provide feedback as described in Data Tagging preview and testing.
Community members have reported the need to update their playbooks or integration/unit tests.
Advice for collection maintainers
We are asking all collection maintainers to:
- Review Data Tagging preview and testing for background and where to open issues against
ansible-core
if needed. - Review Making a collection compatible with data tagging for advice from your peers. Add your advice to help other collection maintainers prepare for this change.
- Add
devel
to your CI testing and periodically verify results through the ansible-core 2.19 release to ensure compatibility with any changes/bugfixes that come as a result of your testing.

Upcoming changes to Galaxy and EDA operator releases
There is a post here stating the intention take the same approach for the eda-server-operator and galaxy-operators as was taken for the awx-operator: To not cut and tag releases, but instead work from the
main
branch. In the post I included some instructions on how to pin to a given commit, etc.
