Ansible event discussion and registration proposal
gundalow contributed
Proposal: Consolidating Ansible discussion platforms
We propose moving away from Meetup Pro and using the Ansible Forum for event information and community discussion, with Pretix for registration and ticketing.
- Event discussions stay in the Ansible community: agendas, questions, and follow-up live on the Forum, where people can contribute and find them later.
- Local updates are opt-in: people can follow events in the cities they care about through Forum location preferences and city notifications.
Registration is purpose-built: Pretix handles RSVPs, attendee updates, and check-in, including offline check-in when venue connectivity is unreliable.- The tools are more open to community stewardship: Pretix is open source, has an API, and can be self-hosted, while the Forum provides a shared place to improve event guidance and processes.
This would give each city a place to plan and share events, while providing organisers with registration and check-in tools. It would also bring event conversations into the Ansible community’s existing spaces, where people can ask questions and share what they learn after an event.
- Where do you currently hear about events (not just Ansible), and what would help you discover events?
- Would you be OK having to use your Ansible Forum login to RSVP to community events?
- Meetup Organizers: Is the workflow easy for you?
- Are we missing a meetup city?
We have a proposal, and we want your feedback before we settle the details.
ansible-core secret masking discussions
Felix Fontein said
I’ve started two discussions on ansible-core 2.22’s new Secret masking feature, that are of interest both to interested collection developers and users:
- What information should callback plugins mask? What information should callback plugins mask?
- How to register secrets - as plugin developers, and users? How to register secrets - as plugin developers, and users?

antsibull-nox 1.10.0 release
Felix Fontein shared
antsibull-nox 1.10.0 (Release 1.10.0 · ansible-community/antsibull-nox · GitHub) has been released. Alongside a few bugfixes and support for Python 3.15, its
antsibull-noxCLI tool includes a new experimentalreleasesubcommand that helps with common tasks needed for releasing collections. The initial version only supports GitHub based collections that are published through Ansible’s Zuul instance to Ansible Galaxy, which covers allcommunity.*collections and some more. Check out the “Releasing a collection” chapter (Releasing a collection - antsibull-nox – Antsibull Nox Helper) of the documentation for more information.
antsibull-changelog 0.36.0 release
Felix Fontein said
antsibull-changelog 0.36.0 (Release 0.36.0 · ansible-community/antsibull-changelog · GitHub) has been released with a breaking change: as announced more than a year ago, the boolean options
--is-collection <value>and--collection-flatmap <value>are now proper flags (with--no-variants).
Ansible community package
The Ansible package includes ansible-core and is a batteries-included package that provides a curated set of Ansible collections. See the Ansible roadmaps for future release plans.
