Opinion poll: Tell us what you want to hear at CfgMgmtCamp 2027

Hello everyone!

As you might have noticed the CFP for CfgMgmtCamp 2027 is now open. The team that maintains several of the cloud related collections, code-named team Nebula, is considering several different submissions and we’d like to hear from you!

For team Nebula we’d like to raise awareness of the work we’ve been doing and showcase the latest and greatest Ansible content in the collections that our team is responsible for. We’d very much like to attract some contributions and get some feedback to improve the collections as well.

With this in mind, we thought it would be a good idea to ask directly. We’d love to hear what you think so tell us what collections and topics you’d like to see us present.

To make it easy, we’ve created a poll where you can indicate which collection you’d like to learn about at CfgMgmtCamp. However it’s not an exhaustive list. These are the topics that we’ve had in mind to talk about.

If you would like to hear about a different collection, please indicate which one in the poll. You can also reply directly to this thread to ask questions and give suggestions.

Because we’ll need time to prepare our talks, we need to set a deadline for the poll. A month should be enough time for folks to have their say so we’ll close this poll by September 19th.

We look forward to hearing from you and can’t wait to see you in Ghent in February!

Maybe a bit sensitive but an awx talk

Hi @oranod,

the topic that I would hear is if team Nebula have any published timeline/roadmap for the collections maintained by the cloud content, and how community can influence to this. I’m a contributor to one of collections (looking into GitHub, I would say, one of active contributor), and sometimes I see that issues and PRs waiting quite long without any reactions and it’s unclear when is planned next minor or fix release.

I second that. The AWX situation is dangling, at best, and I reckon that it has generated a lot of frustration in the community. It is sensitive, but I think it should be faced head on.

@russoz and @MalfuncEddie Thanks for bringing up the topic of AWX. I agree and would also love to see a talk and discussion around that project. Unfortunately that is outside of my purview, even though I made efforts to help with communication as part of my role within the community team.

What I can do is share this request and advocate for an AWX session at CfgMgmtCamp.

@yurnov Thanks for that suggestion. I get the frustration that an unclear roadmap for releases can bring, not to mention PRs and issues that tend to linger. That’s certainly not ideal and does not reflect the genuine gratitude felt towards valuable community contributions.

This sounds like an excellent discussion topic for CfgMgmtCamp anyway. I’ll bring this back to team Nebula for sure and try to get something on the agenda.

It might also be great to discuss this at the contributor summit, in a bit wider scope (also for other RH-maintained collections, like the “kind of official” ansible.* collections). BTW, is there a (or multiple) team(s) that manage(s) these collections (or a subset of them), or is it more like a collection of special cases?
