Hi all,
I wanted to ask about the current maintenance status of the Consul role at ansible-collections/ansible-consul and the Nomad role at ansible-community/ansible-nomad.
Both repos seem to have a fair number of open pull requests and issues that aren’t getting reviewed, and releases have slowed down considerably. A couple of my own PRs have been sitting open for a while without feedback, which is what prompted me to ask.
For context: I’ve been running a fork of these roles in production for some time now. On top of the PRs I have open upstream, my fork includes a handful of additional fixes and improvements that have been working reliably for me in a real environment. I’d much rather get these merged back upstream than keep maintaining a divergent fork, both for my own sanity and so the wider community benefits.
So a few questions:
- Are these roles still considered actively maintained, or are they effectively in maintenance-only / dormant mode?
- Is there anyone currently reviewing and merging PRs? If so, is there anything I can do to help move my open ones along (rebasing, adding tests, splitting them up, etc.)?
- If maintainer bandwidth is the bottleneck, would the team be open to adding contributors/maintainers? I’m happy to volunteer to help triage issues and review PRs, given I’m already maintaining these changes downstream.
I’m not raising this to complain. I really value these roles and want to help keep them healthy. Just trying to figure out the best path to contribute effectively.
Thanks, and happy to provide links to the specific PRs if useful.
