Spring starts with Ansible
Speaker 1: Martin Loschwitz
Topic: Event-Driven Ansible: Capabilities and Use Cases
About the speaker: Martin Loschwitz is Managing Director of True West IT Services GmbH and works professionally across all topics related to scalable infrastructure — including Kubernetes, OpenStack on Ceph, modern network architectures, and their operation and lifecycle management. Automation, particularly with Ansible, is another key focus. He also works as a freelance journalist for various publications.
Abstract: Most administrators use Ansible to apply specific configurations via playbooks. Event-Driven Ansible extends automation by enabling automated responses to specific events. It supports various event sources as well as webhooks. This talk demonstrates how the technology works, how it can be used in practice, and what kinds of setups it enables.
Speaker 2: Bastian Kuhn
Topic: cmdb-syncer as an Inventory Source for Ansible
About the speaker: Bastian has been working with Ansible for over 10 years and has implemented extensive automation projects — from complete server configuration (including Docker, Nginx, hardening, etc.) to large-scale rollouts of Checkmk agents across environments with more than 10,000 servers.
Abstract: This talk focuses on the CMDB Syncer as an inventory source for Ansible — for example in Checkmk agent rollouts or when updating Checkmk sites. Bastian demonstrates how the Syncer can serve as the foundation for Ansible-based automation within Checkmk, with the underlying principle transferable to other Ansible scenarios.
