:microphone: Speakers:

Mark Bolwell
Is a 20+ years linux sysadmin experience with passion for automation and new technologies. A background in MSPs he was the driving force behind Ansible adoption and use at a global MSP. He has spent the last few years working with MindPoint Group helping their clients to achieve their OS compliance and security goals through automation as well as being one of the chief contributors and maintainers to the open-source Ansible-Lockdown project.

Talk: Ansible Lockdown remediation and audit.
Bringing a system into CIS security benchmark compliance (https://www.cisecurity.org) compliance and auditing.
A live demo and discussions of the ansible lockdown remediation project along with the audit component written with GOSS (https://goss.rocks). Demonstrating how by configuring your settings with the use of jinja2 to can gather consistent results across the remediate(Ansible) and Audit(Goss) elements of the project. Giving the ability to ensure your system configurations match what you expect ansible to configure.

Andreas Härpfer
Andreas has 20+ years of experience in the industry and a strong
interest in all things infrastructure and automation. Having spent most
of this time in various ops roles he has recently shifted focus to
platform engineering and is now trying to make things work the
Kubernetes way.

Talk: Ansible Operators
Ansible is used to automate all kinds of things. But the way we use
Ansible to e.g. manage infrastructure is quite different from how we
deploy applications on container platforms these days. Wouldn’t it be
nice to have a more unified approach to both things?

Fortunately the extensible API of Kubernetes allows us to do just that
by creating custom resources and controllers (so called operators) that
use a more Kubernetes-like way to represent what we want to do while
still using proven Ansible modules and collections to do the job. (And
as a side effect we get some other benefits along the way. Think
reconciliation loops, GitOps, …)

As a hands-on demo we will create an Ansible Operator via the Operator
SDK to orchestrate an external Nginx routing server via custom resources
in Kubernetes.

:beers: Pre-Oktoberfest Networking: This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow automation enthusiasts, exchange ideas, and build your professional network—all before the Oktoberfest celebrations kick off!
Save the Date and Spread the Word! Mark your calendars for 12th September, and get ready for a tech-packed evening with the Ansible community. Let’s make this meetup an unforgettable prelude to Oktoberfest!
We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your exciting Ansible stories!
Cheers, Mihai
