"Very large, active development team", Ohloh says

Hello

I'm just browsing the page of the project in Ohloh[1] and saw this:

"""
Very large, active development team

Over the past twelve months, 237 developers contributed new code to
Ansible. This is one of the largest open-source teams in the world, and
is in the top 2% of all project teams on Ohloh.

For this measurement, Ohloh considers only recent changes to the code.
Over the entire history of the project, 245 developers have contributed.
"""

sharing the fact it because I find it both interesting and rewarding.
Having 237 contributors over the last year sounds very very healthy.

Regards,
maykel

Actually the thing I see as the big positive are the small number of gatekeepers merging contributions into the project. Its not just a free-for-all of contributions, but Michael (in particular) has a strong view of directions he wants to go in, and, just as importantly, areas he does not want to address. He is quite willing to say no to requests or code contributions that do not fit with the project, or suggest ways of reworking code to fit better with how things are done.

So we have a project with a lot of contributors but a strong co-ordination as to direction. Enthusiasm is encouraged and maintained, but also channelled effectively.
