Unmaintained collection: ovirt.ovirt

The ovirt.ovirt collection looks unmaintained / abandoned, it has:

Additionally, the tags on GitHub look weird. It looks like there’s always an additional -1 so that for example 3.2.0 is tagged 3.2.0-1. I’m not 100% sure, but I think this is a violation of our requirements: The tag name MUST exactly match the Galaxy version number.

I was hoping someone from Red Hat would shed some light on this problem.

I assume that this collection was maintained by Red Hat employees and ended being abandoned together with RHV. No official notice though.

If someone close to Oracle is reading this, maybe Oracle can take over the maintenance of the collection since Oracle already took oVirt under it’s wing.

@bvitnik the last commit referred to is from a github handle ‘@shubhaOracle’, so maybe trying to get in touch with them could be a first step in that direction

Nice find . Thanks! No contact info though :worried:. Not going to be easy to make a contact I guess.

Raise an issue in that repo and mention them directly?

I’ve pinged @shubhaOracle and also @mnecas (who seems to have done the last releases) in the repo issue Unmaintained collection: Removal from the Ansible Community Package.

There’s already an answer to my issue.

I should say that this is a good sign. Let’s put the removal process on hold for some weeks / months and see if there’s any progress before we go on.
