stability release plans for AWX?

Hi folks,
new to ansible and AWX. However, long time programmer, github user, and puppet/foreman user.

I’ve been reading up on AWX and Redhat Tower.
The most recent comparisons I read, claim that AWX is basically (utter chaos), and you need to buy redhat tower if you want something approaching stability, for serious use.

In contrast, Redhat claims, in https://www.redhat.com/en/resources/awx-and-ansible-tower-datasheet

“AWX MATURITY GOALS
Red Hat’s aim is to help AWX mature with a model similar to that of Fedora, where the product will be used for new features,”

I was pleasantly surprised to see on github that, contrary to rumor, there ARE such things as official releases for AWX.
In fact, the most recent is AWX-6.1.0, release a mere month ago, on July 18, 2019

I dont see anything on the FAQ ( https://www.redhat.com/en/resources/awx-and-ansible-tower-datasheet ) or elsewhere, about how the release process works at present.
Is there a release manager? Is there any kind of criteria? QA?
beta testing?

Lastly, and I’ll probably regret asking this…
if I were absolutely INSANE, and wanted to spearhead actual stable, tested, and FREE releases happening every so often… would I potentially get backing from the project?

(FYI, I have a few years experience being a release manager coordinating 20 people and 2000+ open source packages)
