Yet another check, this time for the modules:
- community.general.dimensiondata_vlan
- community.general.dimensiondata_network
And accompanying doc fragments and module utils.
DimensionData seems to have been a cloud provider from South Africa that was later acquired by NTT Docomo (some 6-7 years ago?).
The module relies on Apache’ s libcloud package, and that library has a built-in catalog of cloud providers and their endpoints. Libcloud has release many new versions since the company’s acquisition, but their entry in the catalog is still there, and many entrypoints still point to their DNS domain, but running curl against those endpoints times out.
Googling a bit, it seems that the company name DimensionData has not been used for a number of years, the main site of the company redirects to a generic page in NTT’s site. I even engaged ChatGPT into searching for evidence of any activity and it came back with a monitoring dashboard, still up and running, but showing 0% uptime (for the last week or so) on everything it monitors

So, there are many circumstantial indications that the service is gone but I could not find (within the limited time I spent searching) a final word on whether it still operates or not. I come to the community and ask if anyone has any more evidence or references that could be used to confirm the state of the service in either way.
