I have been waiting sometime (10 years?) to dive into Ansible. I have finally got there, and have been using it.
What a project, what a craft. I have manually configured so many services in my lifetime, and this is going to save so much time. No more going backwards.
It really helps bootstrapping a new everything. I am starting over, so this means new everything. New internal git repo, new this, new that. How do I backup my new code before I get my git repo up? Ansible copy? Sure it can copy directories!!
How do I configure my new etcd cluster after architecture the configuration? j2
I think it is a great example of the unix way, and with so many projects you do not see that anymore. It maintains its single purpose, but its purpose is so grand (remote control), it covers so much with simple concepts, and just continues to provide but not overstep.
