Ansible Community: Update and what’s next?

Elevator Pitch

In February, at ConfigManagementCamp, we laid out our vision for the things we need to improve on in the Ansible community. Let’s discuss how that’s going!

Description

At CfgMgmtCamp we laid out the data & reasoning for how we see the state of the community. That was then written up as a set of blog posts around the community strategy, taking in fragmentation, voice, mission, and more.

That lead to a pair of discussions and votes within the community, on the need for a community website and a community forum, both of which were voted for. So let’s take stock of where we’re at today and start discussing where we want to go next.

This talk is aimed at everyone in the Ansible community, from the newest user to the most veteran of contributors. If you have an interest in where the community goes next, we want to hear about your thoughts, and this talk with give you the baseline of how we see things in the Community Team.

About the speaker(s)

The Ansible Community Forum as a contributor space

Elevator Pitch
  • The Forum is live! This new space for community engagement and discussion is available to all Ansible projects and contributors. Join us for a discussion on how to onboard an Ansible project if you are an Ansible developer or how to bring a topic into light if you are a contributor
Description

The Ansible ecosystem is getting bigger and more complex, browsing 20+ GitHub repositories to try and find where we have to submit our bug or RFE is becaming harder, this also affects the Ansible projects that want to communicate upcoming changes, releases or discuss future decisions.
