We’ve added a new feature to the UI that allows for the expansion and collapse of certain lists in AWX, namely the Jobs List, Templates List, and Projects List. The decision to implement this feature was based on the feedback we received at AnsibleFest, as many users would like the option to have a more simple, compacted view of the Jobs, Templates, and Projects list. The list items are now minimized by default and the option to toggle between expanded and compacted views is achieved via a toolbar at the top of each list. We would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this new feature, whether this implementation addresses the pain points experienced when working within the list views, and any suggestions for how we can continue to improve this feature and other aspects of the user experience in AWX and Tower.
Note: Currently, the “Sort” button is a placeholder of more features to come.
Ideally, if I were to look at the templates page, it would be awesome if there was something akin to folders at the top. We have a lot of templates dedicated to managing Centrify, so there would be a Centrify folder, etc. I almost feel like what is in each folder could be based off the template labels.
I am trying to look at the changes, but having issues trying to build from source. I have used the dockerhub images before with no problems, but building it on local docker is proving to be a struggle. It is almost like the settings in the inventory file are not making it into the image, as I am plagued with database errors.
It’s a nice addition but what is really missing is the ability to group templates and have a tree structure. Kinda like rundeck has. At the moment if I want to search for some jobs that have a common scope, I need to give them a label. And then search label:something. Which is really cumbersome.
