Mitogen for Ansible stable release

Hi,

The first stable version of the Mitogen for Ansible extension has been released. Mitogen for Ansible is a widely compatible drop-in replacement for Ansible’s lower execution layers, netting hug speed-ups in many common playbook scenarios, particularly when operating over high-latency networks, or making heavy use of loops executing small tasks.

Mitogen has been developed over many years, with the Ansible extension appearing earlier in 2018. The extension has already received significant testing from a wide selection of users, and is now considered to be in a generally dependable state.

A more detailed announcement can be found here:

Please try it out, and reply to me via e-mail, or file a GitHub ticket if your experience deviates from what has been promised!

Thanks,

David

This is an amazing project, it’s taken Clojars’ Ansible playbook run-times from 16 minutes to 1 minute 30 seconds. It is truly incredible. I take my hat off to David and owe him a beer next time we’re in the same city. Ansible core team, please look at bringing this into core Ansible, it changes everything.

Thanks, Daniel.

+1 to make this part of the Ansible core.

early and non-rigorous testing on some of our own playbooks makes it what appears being a MUST
will be using this extensively from now on.

A really amazing piece of SW and not just because of the preformance increase

Thanks,

  • Phil
