Looking for a Mentor!

Hi:

I am interested in getting more involved in open source projects and actually contributing, specifically AWX but because I have never been involved in open source projects, I need some guidance and direction about how to get started and actually make an impact. Someone suggested that since I am interested in IT Automation and the AWX project that I reach out to the group to see if anyone would be willing to act as a mentor. This may futile but I am not sure another way to go about it. If anyone has any additional suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you for reaching out! Have you forked the project yet and had a chance to get an AWX container built and running yet?

If not, that is a good place to start, here is our doc on contributing (https://github.com/ansible/awx/blob/devel/CONTRIBUTING.md), which includes everything you need to get your container up and running. After that, it is a good idea to look at the issue queue and start working on fixes. Look for issues tagged “good first issue” on GitHub. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions along the way on IRC: #ansible-awx, my Nick is adamscm. Also, e-mail works just as well.
