Ansible Community, Ansible Core and RHEL 8

Hi,

My team maintains RHEL 8 based servers using Ansible. From reading the ansible-core documentation this means we must use ansible-core<2.17. This is fine as ansible-core 2.16 is being treated as an LTS for RHEL 8.

My question is, will ansible community 9.x continue to be updated to use the latest version of ansible-core for the duration of RHEL-8s support? According to the life cycle of the project it will not be updated past 9.13

Would you have any advice for teams using packages outside ansible-core on RHEL 8?

There has been no proposal to extend the Ansible community package 9.x lifecycle, so it will be End of Life after the final release next week.

I would simply install the collections you need directly next to ansible-core, instead of using the ansible package. Or build your own execution environment and use that.
