A new look for docs.ansible.com

Hi everyone!

I’d like to ask for the community’s feedback on changes to the layout plus look and feel of docs.ansible.com.

Before we point the subdomain to Read The Docs hosting, it’s probably a better approach to set everything up and prune some old pages. This will avoid doing clean up work after switching things over and rebuilding sitemaps, etc.

I’d like to ask for review on a branch of the community website that ports over all the content from the ansible/docsite landing pages: Add docsite templates by oraNod · Pull Request #475 · ansible-community/community-website · GitHub

Benefits this will have:

  • Combines the great design of the community website with the content journey based approach to the docsite
  • Moves to nikola as the SSG for the docsite instead of custom
  • (Hopefully) creates better (clearer) separation of content between the community distribution and Red Hat AAP
  • Avoids the need for “clean up” work after moving the subdomain to RTD

Discussed in DaWGs and the consensus agrees with this change and is looking forward to having the new look/feel for the docs.ansible.com front pages :slight_smile:
