project update depends on inventory?

Hi! I am trying to create a project and getting the following when I try to “Get latest SCM revision”. Anyone have any idea why updating git would require an inventory? Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Thanks!!!

Can you provide more details around what you did? This isn’t enough to debug. First thoughts are there are some weird characters breaking parsing somewhere.
