My advice to aspiring contributors is always the same: become a
knowledgeable user of Ansible first.
Why? Because the best contributions in open source come from people
who actually depend on the contributions they're making.
As you become more familiar with Ansible, you will naturally find
areas for improvement; there are hundreds of modules, all of which
could be improved in some way or another. But it's best if you find
those issues on your own.
Once you get to that point, you will find this to be a pretty
comprehensive reference:
