I'm currently one of the maintainers of the Linode module and currently
working on a new one to support the new version 4 of the API. I have
some plans for new modules based on this new API all around automating
Linode with Ansible.
I just saw https://github.com/ansible/community and realised that this
would probably be more fun if I could pull together a working group for
getting this done and supporting the work going forward. There are
already some other Linode module maintainers but they've already said
that they're moving away from using Linode actively.
Any takers? All levels of contributor welcome! Hacking Ansible is
surprisingly easy and the contribution process is quite fun. You just
need a Linode account and some medium/long-term interest in seeing the
thing done.
And it would seem that we need 2 to tango. So, would you be OK if I sign
you up as a 'founding member' and I'll take care of the rest?
We can just try to coordinate some work when we have time via IRC in the
beginning and if more come, we can do meetings etc. If that doesn't
work, all good. Can just ping by mail or what not.
I’m a developer at Linode, who has worked on the v3 and v4 Linode to varying extents, and I would also be interested in helping out as a Linode resource.
I’ve worked on Ruby, Fog, Go, Vagrant, and Terraform wrappers and I would love to see this Ansible wrapper fleshed out, assisting in what you’ve started.
I’m also interested in having the same state across Salt-Cloud, Puppet, and other tools.
