Ansible 1.9 RC1 is coming...

Hey all,

Just wanted to announce that we’re going to be cutting the RC1 release for 1.9 next week (tentatively Monday). Once the release candidate is out, we’ll be in a feature freeze for one week, during which time we’ll only be merging bug fixes into the 1.9 stable branch. If any fixes are merged in, we’ll release RC2 after the week is up, otherwise we’ll make the release official.

If you are a module maintainer with commit access, please be sure to get your PRs merged, and be sure to let us know if there are depedent PRs in ansible/ansible that need to be merged as well. Please also refrain from committing any new features to your modules once the release candidate is out, until the official release.

If you have any outstanding PRs marked “p2” or tagged with the “next” milestone on Github, be sure to make sure any comments we’ve left have been addressed, and any others that want to help can do so by testing things out and leaving comments on the PRs. We will make a best effort to merge these, but we cannot guarantee they make the release so any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions!

Hi James

If I open a PR now, will there still be time for it to be considered? I wrote a much better replacement for ec2_ami_search

Regards
Tom

Hi Tom, unfortunately most likely no. We already have quite a few things to get merged in by the end of Monday so this would most likely have to wait until after the release and would end up in devel/2.0.
