**This week in Ansible Community**
_Issue #234, 2026-08-06 ([Past Issues](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17))_

Welcome to [The Bullhorn](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17), our newsletter for the Ansible Community. If you have any questions or content you’d like to share, you’re welcome to chat with us in the [Ansible Social room on Matrix](https://matrix.to/#/#social:ansible.com), and mention [`newsbot`](https://matrix.to/#/@newsbot:ansible.im) to have your news item tagged for review for the next weekly issue!

## Major new releases 🏆

### Ansible-Core [↗](https://github.com/ansible/ansible)

The `ansible-core` package contains the base engine and a small subset of modules and plugins. To see what’s planned for the next release, look at the [`ansible-core` roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible-core/devel/roadmap/ansible_core_roadmap_index.html).

### ansible-core 2.21.2 release

[ansible-announce](https://matrix.to/#/@ansible-announce:matrix.org) shared

> New Release: ansible-core v2.21.2 - [New Release: ansible-core v2.21.2](https://forum.ansible.com/t/new-release-ansible-core-v2-21-2/46044)

### ansible-test Alpine 3.24 container update

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) said

> Ansible-core devel’s ansible-test replaced its Alpine 3.23 container image and VM by Alpine 3.24 ([Ansible-test devel: Alpine 3.23 replaced by Alpine 3.24](https://forum.ansible.com/t/46069)).

### Antsibull [↗](https://github.com/ansible-community/antsibull)

Tooling for building the `Ansible` package and collection documentation.

### antsibull-docs 2.25.0 release

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) shared

> antsibull-docs 2.25.0 ([Release 2.25.0 · ansible-community/antsibull-docs · GitHub](https://github.com/ansible-community/antsibull-docs/releases/tag/2.25.0)) has been released. It fixes a bug regarding environment variable definitions in collections, and improves position reporting during linting in some cases.

### Ansible Community Package [↗](https://github.com/ansible-collections)

The `Ansible` package includes `ansible-core` and is a batteries-included package that provides a curated set of Ansible collections. See the [Ansible roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible-core/devel/roadmap/ansible_core_roadmap_index.html) for future release plans.

### Ansible 15 roadmap vote accepted

[mariolenz](https://matrix.to/#/@mariolenz:matrix.org) shared

> The [vote on the Ansible 15 roadmap](https://forum.ansible.com/t/45989/4) has finished and the [suggested schedule](https://github.com/ansible/ansible-documentation/pull/3794) has been accepted.

### dellemc.unity inclusion requirements violation

[mariolenz](https://matrix.to/#/@mariolenz:matrix.org) said

> It looks like [dellemc.unity violates the Ansible Community Package inclusion requirements](https://forum.ansible.com/t/46085). The last run seems to have been 9 months ago testing with ansible-core 2.19. But the current ACP 14 is based on ansible-core 2.21. This looks like we should remove the collection from the Ansible Community Package. If you’re a maintainer or user of this collection, feel free to join the discussion on the forum!

### Ansible 14.2.0 package release

### community.okd maintenance status discussion

[mariolenz](https://matrix.to/#/@mariolenz:matrix.org) said

> It’s a little bit unclear if `community.okd` is really and fully maintained. There is now a [discussion](https://forum.ansible.com/t/46064) about this. Depending on the result, we might or might not remove this collection from the Ansible Community Package. If you’re a maintainer of `community.okd` and want to keep the collection in the ACP, or if you’re using the collection by installing ACP, please join the discussion!

### ansible.posix 2.2.2 release

[hsaito](https://matrix.to/#/@saito-hideki:matrix.org) said

> [ansible.posix 2.2.2](https://github.com/ansible-collections/ansible.posix/blob/2.2.2/CHANGELOG.rst#v2-2-2) has been released. This release adds instructions regarding the support workflow for certain users to the README; there are no functional changes from version 2.2.1.

### community.general 13.2.0 and 12.6.3 releases

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) contributed

> There are two new `community.general` releases:
>
> - community.general 13.2.0 ([community.general/CHANGELOG.md at stable-13 · ansible-collections/community.general · GitHub](https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/blob/stable-13/CHANGELOG.md#v13-2-0)) is a regular feature and bugfix release with a new lookup plugin and a new module. Note that 13.2.0 adds a new dependency, `community.library_inventory_filtering_v1`, and uses it in the `opennebula` inventory plugin. If you are installing community.general manually, you have to adjust your installation procedure (at least if you’re using that inventory plugin). If you install the collection through ansible-galaxy, or use the `ansible` community package, the dependency will get installed automatically.
> - community.general 12.6.3 ([community.general/CHANGELOG.md at stable-12 · ansible-collections/community.general · GitHub](https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/blob/stable-12/CHANGELOG.md#v12-6-3)) is a regular bugfix release.

>
> This release implements minor changes and bug fixes such as a new `remove` value to the `behavior` option of the `kubeconfig` module, allowing entries to be deleted from the kubeconfig file by name, as well as Helm v4 compatibility across the Helm modules.
>
> Please see the [changelog](https://github.com/ansible-collections/kubernetes.core/blob/stable-6/CHANGELOG.rst#v6-5-0) for more info.
