**This week in Ansible Community**
_Issue #220, 2026-03-06 ([Past Issues](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17))_

Welcome to [The Bullhorn](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17), our newsletter for the Ansible Community. If you have any questions or content you’d like to share, you’re welcome to chat with us in the [Ansible Social room on Matrix](https://matrix.to/#/#social:ansible.com), and mention [`newsbot`](https://matrix.to/#/@newsbot:ansible.im) to have your news item tagged for review for the next weekly issue!

## Major new releases 🏆

### Ansible-Core [↗](https://github.com/ansible/ansible)

The `ansible-core` package contains the base engine and a small subset of modules and plugins. To see what’s planned for the next release, look at the [`ansible-core` roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible-core/devel/roadmap/ansible_core_roadmap_index.html).

#### ansible-core 2.16.17

#### ansible.builtin.paramiko\_ssh deprecation notice

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) shared

> The `ansible.builtin.paramiko_ssh` plugin was deprecated in ansible-core 2.19 and is about to be removed from ansible-core 2.21. This unfortunately was not mentioned in the porting guide and there is also no runtime warning, so users might not be aware of this. To find out whether there are still use-cases that need this plugin, I created a discussion on the forum ([Future of the (deprecated) paramiko connection plugin](https://forum.ansible.com/t/45376)). If you still use the plugin, please mention your use-case there, in case you don’t want to simply switch to `ansible.builtin.ssh` anyway. Also, in case you’re using the Paramiko connection together with network device automation, note that the Ansible network team is working on covering that specific aspect directly (but they do not cover the general connection plugin).

### Ansible Community Package [↗](https://github.com/ansible-collections)

The `Ansible` package includes `ansible-core` and is a batteries-included package that provides a curated set of Ansible collections. See the [Ansible roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible-core/devel/roadmap/ansible_core_roadmap_index.html) for future release plans.

#### awx.awx removal from Ansible Community Package

[mariolenz](https://matrix.to/#/@mariolenz:matrix.org) shared

> The `awx.awx` collection currently is undergoing a heavy [refactoring](https://forum.ansible.com/t/7404). Unfortunately, this means that it does not align with the standards for the community package at the moment. So we [decided](https://forum.ansible.com/t/44706/21) to remove it from the Ansible Community Package (ACP) 14.
>
> We sincerely hope that the current work on the collection will be successful and we can add it again some time in the future.
>
> Please note that you can still manually install the collection with `ansible-galaxy collection install awx.awx` even when it has been removed from the Ansible Community Package.

## Help wanted 🙏

### Partner communication forum proposal

[Oranod](https://matrix.to/#/@orandon:ansible.im) contributed

> The Community and Partner Engineering team have proposed bringing Red Hat partner communication into the forum to encourage open participation and increase transparency for the community. To support those goals we’ve put forward some suggestions on the approach and opened a poll.
>
> Please take a few minutes to read through the proposal and cast your vote. We’re open to ideas and want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to share their thoughts.
>
> We intend to close the poll on Friday, March 13, but might keep it open past that day if it seems like folks need more time to respond.
