**This week in Ansible Community**
_Issue #195, 2025-07-25 ([Past Issues](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17))_

Welcome to [The Bullhorn](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17), our newsletter for the Ansible Community. If you have any questions or content you’d like to share, you’re welcome to chat with us in the [Ansible Social room on Matrix](https://matrix.to/#/#social:ansible.com), and mention [`newsbot`](https://matrix.to/#/@newsbot:ansible.im) to have your news item tagged for review for the next weekly issue!

## Major new releases 🏆

### Ansible-Core [↗](https://github.com/ansible/ansible) 2.19.0

New Release: ansible-core v2.19.0 - [New Release: ansible-core v2.19.0](https://forum.ansible.com/t/new-release-ansible-core-v2-19-0/43969)

The `ansible-core` package contains the base engine and a small subset of modules and plugins. To see what’s planned for the next release, look at the [`ansible-core` roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible-core/devel/roadmap/ansible_core_roadmap_index.html).

#### ansible-test

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) shared

> ansible-core 2.17 and 2.18 replaced their ansible-test’s FreeBSD 13.3 VM with FreeBSD 13.5 ([Ansible-test in ansible-core 2.17 and 2.18: FreeBSD 13.3 replaced with 13.5](https://forum.ansible.com/t/44070)). In case you’re using FreeBSD 13.3 in your AZP CI, you should update your CI matrix.

### Ansible Community Package [↗](https://github.com/ansible-collections)

The `Ansible` package includes `ansible-core` and is a batteries-included package that provides a curated set of Ansible collections. See the [Ansible roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/roadmap/ansible_roadmap_index.html) for future release plans.

## Collection updates 🪄

### community.mysql

> The [community.mysql](https://galaxy.ansible.com/ui/repo/published/community/mysql) collection version [3.15.0](https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.mysql/releases/tag/3.15.0) has been released!

### community.sops 2.2.0

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) contributed

> [community.sops 2.2.0](https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.sops/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#v2-2-0) has been released. When used with ansible-core 2.19, its `community.sops.load_vars` action allows to load SOPS-encrypted data with lazily evaluated Jinja expressions, similar to ansible-core’s builtin `ansible.builtin.include_vars` action.
