**This week in Ansible Community**
_Issue #181, 2025-04-14 ([Past Issues](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17))_

Welcome to [The Bullhorn](https://forum.ansible.com/c/news/bullhorn/17), our newsletter for the Ansible Community. If you have any questions or content you’d like to share, you’re welcome to chat with us in the [Ansible Social room on Matrix](https://matrix.to/#/#social:ansible.com), and mention [`newsbot`](https://matrix.to/#/@newsbot:ansible.im) to have your news item tagged for review for the next weekly issue!

## Data tagging and preparing for ansible-core 2.19

`ansible-core` has gone through an extensive rewrite in sections, related to supporting the new data tagging feature, as describe in [Core-2.19 templating changes - preview and testing](https://forum.ansible.com/t/data-tagging-preview-and-testing/40759). These changes are now in the `devel` branch.

### Advice for playbook and roles users and creators

This change has the potential to impact both your playbooks/roles and collection development. As such, we are asking the community to test against `devel` and provide feedback as described in [Core-2.19 templating changes - preview and testing](https://forum.ansible.com/t/data-tagging-preview-and-testing/40759).

### Advice for collection maintainers

We are asking all collection maintainers to:

- Review [Core-2.19 templating changes - preview and testing](https://forum.ansible.com/t/data-tagging-preview-and-testing/40759) for background and where to open issues against `ansible-core` if needed.
- Review [Making a collection compatible with core 2.19 and templating changes](https://forum.ansible.com/t/making-a-collection-compatible-with-data-tagging/41717) for advice from your peers. Add your advice to help other collection maintainers prepare for this change.
- Add `devel` to your CI testing and periodically verify results through the ansible-core 2.19 release to ensure compatibility with any changes/bugfixes that come as a result of your testing.

## Major new releases 🏆

### Ansible Community Package [↗](https://github.com/ansible-collections)

The `Ansible` package includes `ansible-core` and is a batteries-included package that provides a curated set of Ansible collections. See the [Ansible roadmaps](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/roadmap/ansible_roadmap_index.html) for future release plans.

### Ansible 12 roadmap

[Felix Fontein](https://matrix.to/#/@felixfontein:matrix.org) said

> The Ansible 12 roadmap’s release schedule ([Ansible project 12.0 — Ansible Community Documentation](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/roadmap/COLLECTIONS_12.html#release-schedule)) has been adjusted to follow the updated ansible-core 2.19’s release schedule ([Ansible-core 2.19 — Ansible Community Documentation](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/roadmap/ROADMAP_2_19.html#release-phase)).

## Collection updates 🪄

### community.postgresql

[andersson007\_](https://matrix.to/#/@andersson007_:matrix.org) contributed

> The [community.postgresql](https://galaxy.ansible.com/ui/repo/published/community/postgresql) collection version [3.13.0](https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.postgresql/blob/main/CHANGELOG.rst#v3130) has been released!
