# Template fields grayed out for user who is Template admin

Hello,

I have a strange problem for one of the AWX users on our installation: Although he is given Admin permissions on the Template, he has “Inventory”, “Project” and “Playbook” drop-box controls grayed-out in GUI, and he can not change the playbook.

Is this a known issue? Could not find anything about it here in conversations. Also tried removing his account from Template permissions and adding him again, same result.

Any info would be appreciated.

I believe your user will need at least read access to the Inventory, Project and Credentials specified in the Job Template in order for them to be editable. This was done intentionally to prevent a user from changing one of these values from something they don’t have access to to something that they do.

Thank you, that was exactly that!

User was Admin on Project, but had no rights on Inventory. Giving him “Use” rights there solved the issue.
