# Support for adding security groups in AWS

Hi all,

I’m considering either a new module or modifications to an existing module for assigning a security group to an AWS instance given a VPC. This looks like a bug that was filed quite a while ago: [https://github.com/ansible/ansible-modules-core/issues/454](https://github.com/ansible/ansible-modules-core/issues/454).

Has anyone started work on this particular issue? If not then I’d like to take a stab at it–but would like to ensure that the design I have in my head complies with the communities standards before I start work.
