# Self assigning to issue

This is my first open source contribution. Was planning to assign myself to :  
Update Social Auth on Login Screen #12040  
However I can’t figure out how. I messaged a Kabir who said he has been working on it, and never figure out how to assign himself so it still says " no one assigned " . II looked through your documents but do you have any instructions on how to assign ones self?

Hello, and thanks for your interest in contributing to AWX!

At this time we plan on only assigning project maintainers to issues.  
If you want to you can add a comment in the issue that you are going to be working on it and maybe state what you think your timeline will be.  
Once you have an accepted PR we can retroactively assign the issue to you upon request.
