Hi folks -

So we have a batch of meetup github repos, most of which are empty. There are about three of them that seem to have some level of activity. In at least one, there was a question on why we want individual repos per meetup, vs just having a common place to share presentations, where it might be easier to find older presentations and reuse them etc.

Here in the forum, we already have [Meetups in the events calendar](http://forum.ansible.com/c/events/8) (autopopulated it seems).

We also have a github [community-presentations repo](https://github.com/ansible-community/presentations) that we could start using across all meetups to share presentations.

For those who attend or run meetups, what do you feel is the best way to coordinate this information? Is there a benefit to having your own meetup sharing repo?

We don’t have to delete the meetup repos that are actively in use, but wanted to find out what folks need/want from these.

[@MeetupOrganisers](https://forum.ansible.com/groups/meetuporganisers) - would love your thoughts on this ^^

note to self - if we do stop using github, we need to update the meetup toolkit in places like [this](https://github.com/ansible-community/meetup/blob/main/docs/milestones/start_planning.md#planning-tools)…

I love the idea of the centralized meetup calendar, also the community-presentations repo. Perhaps a suggested edit to the Ansible Meetup event process is to upload a copy of the presentation there as a courtesy step?

What I like about the individual github meetup pages is it scopes the contributions specific to that community. Having that separation removes a barrier for new community contributors from feeling like they are potentially disrupting a larger community with their contribution. Also, presumably it allows for distributed management of contributors and content management.

What I like about the GitHub format over the Ansible Forum format is it’s more akin to how Ansible automation is built. Using revision control, group collaboration, issues management, a peer review process, familiarizing yourself with git, etc. are all great facets to encourage for Ansible users as the time invested to learn and understand those areas overlaps with creating Ansible automation content itself.

Thanks @aludwar this helps a lot! @Leo also mentioned similar benefits to having a meetup-specific github location.

Maybe we can add some readme to the shared presentation repo that points to different active meetups and their presentations or something…

So after talking to a few other meetup organizers and this thread, it seems there is benefit to using individual github repos for meetups that request and use them.

Thanks everyone for the help in discussing this!
