# Release announcement: AWX operator helm chart v3.0.0

Hello! We’re pleased to announce a new release and new version for the `awx-operator` helm chart. After some work to figure out the release process and chart versioning after splitting into a new repo, [version 3.0.0 is here!](https://github.com/ansible-community/awx-operator-helm/releases/tag/awx-operator-3.0.0)

## What’s new

- [Chart.yaml](https://github.com/ansible-community/awx-operator-helm/blob/main/.helm/starter/Chart.yaml) is the source of truth for versions : [Add overlay for deployment (#20) · ansible-community/awx-operator-helm@70bac70 · GitHub](https://github.com/ansible-community/awx-operator-helm/commit/70bac70f140c05719f21a4faa292c2805d1fb152)
  - Separate versioning scheme between the chart and `awx-operator` so we can release the chart independently with improvements to helm functionality. The `version` field holds the chart version while the `appVersion` field holds the `awx-operator` version that the chart deploys.
  - Follow the SemVer standard for chart versioning to be consistent with [Helm conventions](https://helm.sh/docs/topics/charts/#charts-and-versioning). Versioning was discussed in the [Awx-operator helm versioning](https://forum.ansible.com/t/awx-operator-helm-versioning/8228) topic.
