# Proposal: trimming down the Ansible community package and collection removal roadmap

It would be great if `ovirt.ovirt`, `vmware.vmware`, and `community.vmware` would be kept.  
These are important for creating and removing VM snapshots as well as some other tasks.  
And I do not really see a reason why they should be removed.

Thanks everybody for the great feedback!

1. Let’s not rush.
2. My opinion on creating multiple packages / other kind of grouping: may be helpful for discoverability, but would bring more maintenance burden (and maybe even confusion). I haven’t heard people were asking for that, so maybe there’s no real need. I’d suggest sticking to the YAGNI and KISS principles for now.
3. There seem to be no objections on trimming down the package, but some concerns on what to keep there were raised. Let’s define what to keep collectively. I created [87 per-collection polls](https://forum.ansible.com/t/vote-ends-2026-11-18-what-collections-should-stay-in-the-ansible-community-package/46598). Please vote. It’ll end 2026-11-18.
