I’m not sure what we should do about this [collection](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd). On the one hand, it looks like there have been recent commits. On the other hand, there hasn’t been a new release since [Jun 12, 2025](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd/releases/tag/5.0.0).

Additionally, there hasn’t been an answer to:

- [Validate compatibility with ansible-core 2.19](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd/issues/253)
- [Importing ‘to\_\*’ from ‘ansible.module\_utils.\_text’ is deprecated in the ansible-core 2.20](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd/issues/275)
- I don’t see any sanity (or other) tests in the repo; maybe they run them somewhere else, but it’s hard to check them if they don’t run them on GitHub

I tend to remove it from the Ansible Community Package. [@SteeringCommittee](https://forum.ansible.com/groups/steeringcommittee) What do you think?

I think this collection is upstream to the certified Openshift collection. Can someone from the Community team reach out to the maintainers internally?

Hi all,

Apologies for the delayed response.

On behalf of the Ansible Cloud Content Team:

- **On active development:** There hasn’t been any active feature development on this collection recently, which is why there haven’t been frequent commits or releases. The collection has primarily been in maintenance mode, with changes made only as needed to address compatibility or critical issues.

- **On CI/testing:** The collection does have CI. It uses reusable workflows from `ansible-network/github_actions` for sanity, unit, and lint tests. This may not be immediately visible since the actual test matrices are defined in the upstream reusable workflow rather than inline in this repository.

- **On the issues raised:**

- **On releases:** We’ll cut a new release once the import fix has landed.

- **Timeline:** We aim to have a PR for the import fixes ready, followed by a release, within the next 2–3 weeks.

Thanks for raising these concerns and for your patience while we looked into them.

@GomathiselviS While you’re at it, you might also consider dropping support for [EOL ansible-core versions](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible/devel/reference_appendices/release_and_maintenance.html#ansible-core-support-matrix). That is \< 2.18, maybe even \< 2.19. ATM you officially still [support 2.15](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd/blob/74155f021e0ef03a881c8681df8d68d11114b459/meta/runtime.yml#L2). I think it might make maintaining the collections easier if you drop support for ancient ansible-core versions.

You don’t have to, it’s just an idea and suggestion from my side 😏

@GomathiselviS I’ve seen that there has been [Release community.okd 6.0.0](https://github.com/openshift/community.okd/pull/296) PR that has been merged. But I don’t really see 6.0.0 anywhere. It’s neither on galaxy nor tagged in you repo.

Do you have any plans to _really_ release this, that is tag it in you repo and publish on galaxy?

Thanks for checking in! Yes, we did plan to release community.okd 6.0.0, and the release is now out. We had to sort out a few process-related items after the release PR was merged, which caused the delay.

community.okd is not currently one of our team’s priorities, but we still took this work on and made sure the release was completed. 6.0.0 is now tagged in the repository and published to Galaxy.

Thanks for your patience!

Cool! Thanks for working on this and doing a new release! I’ve ticked it off on my list of possibly unmaintained collections 😃

Just FYI: Since it’s a new _major_ version you’ll have to wait for the next [major release](https://docs.ansible.com/projects/ansible/devel/roadmap/COLLECTIONS_15.html) to see it in the Ansible Community Package.
