# json module not found with python 2.7

Hi,  
new to ansible so may be it’s somewhere in FAQ… just installed ansible:

Python 2.7.5

ansible 1.6.2

Darwin 13.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 13.1.0: Thu Jan 16 19:40:37 PST 2014; root:xnu-2422.90.20~2/RELEASE\_X86\_64 x86\_64

$ ansible -i ./ans\_hosts all -m ping

labgw1 | FAILED \>\> {

“failed”: true,

**“msg”: “Error: ansible requires a json module, none found!”** ,

“parsed”: false

}

Any clue?

Your labgw1 server is missing the python simplejson package likely due to it running a python version less than 2.6.

you’re right. I was lucky enough to try the only server with old python 🙂
