All,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Created fairly simply action plugin (more or less copied from one of the action plugins bundled with Ansible) and can’t seem to use it.

Playbook looks as follows:

- hosts: all
remote\_user: automate
gather\_facts: False
tasks:
- name: test
sudo: yes
newaction: \>
bits=4096
force=true

When I attempt to run the playbook I get the following error:
ERROR: newaction is not a legal parameter in an Ansible task or handler

My ansible.cfg has an action\_plugin directive, as follows:

$ cat ~/.ansible.cfg | grep action
action\_plugins = /home/j/ansible/custom\_plugins

Any ideas on what I’m missing?

action plugins need a corresponding task plugin (module/library) even
if only as documentation (look at template)

Thank you Brian. That did the trick.
