Hello all, I am new in Ansible.

I have subscribed the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform AAP on AWS. It has been deployed recently. I want to execute a playbook on a execution node using the GUI.

Two automation mesh hop nodes are in place. How can I establish the connectivity between control nodes and execution nodes using GUI?

I refered this documentation [Chapter 5. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Service on AWS Service Definition | Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Service on AWS | Ansible on Clouds | 2.x | Red Hat Documentation](https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/ansible_on_clouds/2.x/html/red_hat_ansible_automation_platform_service_on_aws/saas-service-definition#con-saas-automation-mesh)

I cannot find how to do it from there.

Thanks,
Masa

Hi @masataguchi77,

Welcome to the Ansible forum!

You mentioned hop nodes which are generally used as a proxy to get between control and execution nodes. Do you have execution nodes setup or were you intending to use the hop nodes for execution?

Best regards,

Joe

Thanks Joe, I didn’t know that I am able to use the hop nodes for execution. I want to do it from the hop nodes. My sisutation is;

AAP is in north-east1 on AWS, which is SaaS.
I want to see the pods from OpenShift console to get their VPC/CIDR configuration to execute a playbook from hop nodes. I have deployed a RHEL node there to be patched.

Any advice is welcome!

Best,
Masa

Are the nodes in the Instances section of AAP listed as Hop or Execution? Also, can the nodes in question be reached directly by AAP and reach the OpenShift cluster that you want to automate? Not sure if there are any limitations or requirements for the SaaS offering where a hop node is needed to get an execution node (we use the managed Azure version hosted in our tenant).

I resolved the issue having worked with Red Hat Support. My instance is listed on AAP. It is an execution node. They said I needed at least one execution node to execute playbooks against my hosts.
