# feature request: host\_key\_checking offered as 'ansible\_host\_key\_checking' option

Enabling host\_key\_checking as ‘ansible\_host\_key\_checking’, like several other remote user config options (e.g., ansible\_ssh\_user) could simplify development workflows when MITM attacks are not of concern. For example, a configuration may be under local development until the same provisioning is attempted on a VPS.

Sorry, I don’t understand this one.

(A) host\_key\_checking can be configured on or off on ansible.cfg

(B) it’s enabled by default

What is the proposed change?

Add host\_key\_checking to [the list of behavioral inventory parameters](http://docs.ansible.com/intro_inventory.html#list-of-behavioral-inventory-parameters), allowing selective use of the setting.
