# ec2\_asg: attach existing instance

Is it possible to attach an existing (running) instance when creating a new auto scaling group?  
The [module documentation](http://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/ec2_asg_module.html) is not very straightforward on this.  
Is the **replace\_instances** option supposed to take care of this?
