I’m trying to understand the “Using podman containers” example in the documentation of Ansible Molecule. The inventory section lists a single host that is based on the image `ghcr.io/ansible/community-ansible-dev-tools:latest`. What other container images can I use?

When I change the “Using podman containers” example to use `docker.io/library/ubuntu:24.04` as the image, I get a error in the task `ansible.builtin.wait_for_connection`.

I did not look into it, but it might mean that there is not ssh configured in the container you are using. Generally there is no need to configure ssh for containers, there are other means to connect. But molecule expects it’s managed hosts to be available via ssh.

The cause of the problem was a missing Python in the container. Documentation was improved at [Improve documentation with paragraph about selection of container images to use with Podman by rgaiacs · Pull Request #4687 · ansible/molecule · GitHub](https://github.com/ansible/molecule/pull/4687).
