# Can't run the execution environment based on quay.io/ansible/awx-ee built as non-root?

Hello!  
I’m trying to run the AWX-EE as non-root

```auto
FROM REGISTRY/docker-quay-remote/ansible/awx-ee@sha256:c5f0c1f73b380a5720c8a1a24a4dc883a0526142c60e5b8830b4a624d03d669d

USER root

... SOME WORK

USER 1000:1000

```

However, it gives me this error when I try to run this. Anyone has an idea on how to solve this issue? (running as root won’t solve my issue unfortunately)

```auto
Worker output:
EP_WARN: uid 1000 is missing from /etc/passwd, which is not writable; this error is likely fatal
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/local/bin/ansible-runner", line 5, in <module>
    from ansible_runner. __main__ import main
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'ansible_runner'

```

@cnfrancis hello, if you run it as root, does it solve the issue? I’m not a developer/user of AWX, but i hope this info could narrow the scope.

Anyway, if there’s no response from awx people (which I hope will happen), I think it’d make sense to file an issue in the [ansible/a](https://github.com/ansible/awx).

You could also try:

- [community-ee-minimal](https://github.com/ansible-community/images/pkgs/container/community-ee-minimal)
- [community-ee-base](https://github.com/ansible-community/images/pkgs/container/community-ee-base)
- or build one yourself, it’s easy with the [Getting started with EE guide](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/getting_started_ee/index.html) and if needed publish it to your own [local registry](https://forum.ansible.com/t/running-a-local-container-registry-for-execution-environments/206/1)

i was actually able to resolve my issue. by creating the user and group and changing the permissions of the directory in the image once i was done my work as root

```auto
FROM REGISTRY/docker-quay-remote/ansible/awx-ee@sha256:c5f0c1f73b380a5720c8a1a24a4dc883a0526142c60e5b8830b4a624d03d669d

USER root

... SOME WORK
RUN groupadd -g 1000 awx && \
          useradd -u 1000 -g 1000 awx &&\
          chown -R 1000:1000 /runner

USER 1000:1000

```
