# AWX extra-vars query (survey)

Hello All,

Since i am new to Ansible world …i am looking for assistance. thank you

**vars:**  
**hostname: “{{ hostname1 }}”**  
**source\_vserver: “{{ hostname1 ~ ‘nvs1’ }}”**

**source\_vserver: “{{ hostname1 ~ ‘nvs1’ }}”** is the default value mentioned in playbook itself but when i wan to call some other value like **source\_vserver: svm1** from ansible tower (using **survey** option) it is just picking the value from playbook itself which is **source\_vserver: “{{ hostname1 ~ 'nvs1` }}”** instead of **source\_vserver** value **svm1**.

Simple , though i mentioned **“{{ hostname1 ~ ‘nvs1’ }}”** in playbook itself i need to call some other value like **svm1** for **source\_vserver** from ansible tower survey which is not happing. how can i get it?

Please suggest how to overwrite this. Thank you
