# AWX API to create a new project with scm\_type git

Hi all,

I’m running AWX 19.0.0 and I’m trying to create a new project with SCM\_type “git” via AWX API using python script.

I set the scm\_type as git in data like this below,

_data = {_  
_“name”: “second project”,_  
_“scm\_types”: “git”,_  
_“scm\_url”: “XXXXXXXXX”,_  
_“organization”: “2”,_  
_“timeout”: 10_  
_}_

_response = requests.post(url, auth=(user, pwd), headers=headers, json=data, verify=False)_

The response code is 201 and I can see a new project is created on AWX but the scm\_type is “manual” instead of “git”.

Could anyone help with this issue?

should be scm\_type (singular)
