Do I need to treat collections like ansible modules or plugins?

Is there somewhere in the ansible.cfg I need to tell ansible where to look?

Rather like more complex ansible roles, I'd say.

 Yes. See "GALAXY\_SERVER" and "GALAXY\_SERVER\_LIST"
 [https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/reference\_appendices/config.html#galaxy-server](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/reference_appendices/config.html#galaxy-server)

Quoting from "Configuring the ansible-galaxy client"
 [https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/user\_guide/collections\_using.html#configuring-the-ansible-galaxy-client](https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/devel/user_guide/collections_using.html#configuring-the-ansible-galaxy-client)
"You can configure this to use other servers (such as Red Hat Automation
Hub or a custom Galaxy server) ..."

HTH,
