Hi,

Per [http://ansible.cc/docs/api.html#distributing-plugins](http://ansible.cc/docs/api.html#distributing-plugins) I created action\_plugins/my\_plugin.py under the same directory that holds my top-level playbook. I also created library/my\_plugin, which I suspect has to exist, even if it’s just a stub. However, Ansible did not find my action plug-in. Instead it just tried to run the stub module.

My reading of commit 391fb98e is that plug-ins will now only be found if they’re in a category subdirectory under e.g. action\_plugins. Sure enough, moving action\_plugins/my\_module.py to action\_plugins/whatever/my\_module.py made Ansible find my action plug-in.

Should I be able to just have action\_plugins/my\_plugin.py, or must all plug-ins now be categorized? Should I file an issue (whether against code or docs)?

Thanks,
Dale

It should not actually be true that they /have/ to be categorized, but rather that categorized paths are found _first_.

Please file a ticket so we can test that action plugins with uncategorized documentation wrappers still get found.
