Any other 3d printing folk around who want to talk shop? I’m particularly pleased with these recent prints, so I’m going to show them off more 😛

nifty. My only 3-d printing interest is when people use it to create food 🙂

My partner is the one meddling with the printer mostly. Maybe I should get him on this forum 🙂

He prints a lot of props to enhance our board game experience. Half the fun is in the painting!

3D printing is one of my theoretical hobby (hobby that I unable to do IRL but do tons of research and watch tons of video on)

I’m hoping in the future I can be like “Honey, You know what’s a super cool skill for Owen (my eldest son) to learn? 3D model design!” and turn this theoretical hobby into an applied hobby

go for it! lol I started using an Ender years ago and upgraded to a Prusa. Been thinking of adding the multi material part to it.

I would agree with @iyami5 - I bought mine as a lockdown toy, but it’s proved wildly more useful than I could have expected. I’ve ended up supporting our local repair/reuse scene by printing spare parts for appliances, as well as a multitude of useful bits’n’bobs for the house to improve utility. And my camping gear is substantially better too 🙂

I’ve caveat that, though, by saying that you do have to commit to it. The rewards are there, but they don’t appear by magic, you have to get into it, learn how to slice models right, understand your materials, etc. That will only come with practice and failed prints - embrace your spaghetti!

I just ordered the exact same combo last week for my partner (his birthday is coming up). I’m pretty sure he’ll like it because we discussed the featurers at length. Will let you know how it goes after we’ve had a chance to test it out!

I’m getting printer envy from the Bambu X1 - according to time estimates for some models I’m looking at, it’s about 3x faster than my Ender 5 (2.5hr vs 9hr)!

printed the demo boat in minutes but because of the speed the printer was shaking quite violently including the table it’s on and everything else on it, we now have to look for a new place to put the printer before printing more stuff. good problem to have.

“minutes” is impressive. I think my first Benchy (some years ago) took ~2 hours 🙂

I’ve spent the last few days migrating my Ender 5 from Marlin to Klipper for the firmware, since this seems to be where a lot of the improvement comes from. Klipper does a lot of clever things, so we’ll see 😉

Hey everyone! I’ve been fascinated by 3D printing for a while but never had the chance to dive in. The level of detail and precision some of you achieve is mind-blowing! I’m curious—what would you say is the best beginner-friendly printer for someone looking to experiment without breaking the bank? Also, what’s the biggest mistake you made when you started, and how did you overcome it? Looking forward to learning from you all! [🙌](https://hamnapharmacy.pk/product/alp-tablets-0-5mg-3x10s/)

Hey!,
I have been looking at the Ender-3 V3 ([Ender-3 V3 SE - Creality Official](https://www.creality.com/products/creality-ender-3-v3-se)) it is by far the most beginner-friendly. Plus it’s relatively cheap!. I learned using a very similar model and I was convinced to get one myself.

Based on my experience, not doing proper reaserch on which filament is compatible let’s just say that was an expensive mistake😅

But! you live an you learn so 🤷‍♂️
